It's in the Bag Book Report

The "Book in a Bag" report has been signed. The kiddos will be coming home today with a packet that explains at length, what needs to be done in order to complete this assignment. I will be working with the librarian in efforts for the children to get a book that will best suit their needs. It is important that over the next few weeks, that at least 20 minutes or more is spent on reading. We will be concluding our reading of "The Case of the Missing Pumpkins" this week and we will complete a mock bag so that the students are aware of the expectations and what to do. Happy Creating! Below, you will find a picture of the grading rubric. This shows what the students will be assessed on.

Book Club Starts Today

This week, we will be focusing in on the genre of Mysteries. Students will be provided with background and vocabulary, and read through a mystery with the class. Tonight and throughout the rest of the week, students will be asked to join in the "Learning Center Book Club!" The book that the students will be reading this week is "The Case of the Missing Pumpkins." Students will be asked to read a chapter or two each night and be prepared to discuss the story or present their assigned activity the next day. The minutes spent reading these chapters counts for their reading calendar minutes! Students can still go on RaZ to get in a few additional minutes. But, please note it is not required if the students have spent a sufficient amount of time reading for the book club. I cannot wait to have our first meeting!

They are provided with some information, in this case a view of the treats in the jar. Later in the month, we will be working with estimating with weight. Happy estimating!

Welcome Back!

I hope that you all enjoyed your long weekend as much as I did! This week will most definitely go by quickly. Please remember to keep expectations high in regards to homework. Putting pride in products means being proud of not only how correct the work is, but how it is presented. Neatness matters :)
